aerofly RC 7 FAQs

On this page you will find answers to common questions regarding aerofly RC 7. Please have a look and see if your question is answered here. When you have technical problems, ensure you have installed the latest update for aerofly RC 7 and that your 3D graphic card driver is up to date.

Do I need a joystick or RC-Controller to fly aerofly RC 7?
A joystick or a RC-controller are generally recommended for the best flying experience, however you can also use a game-pad, your mouse or even the keyboard. The mouse option for steering is actually very precise and once you get used to it allows very good and smooth flying.

What´s about the sound when using a Plasma- or an LCD- display
When using HDMI -> HDMI cable (presupposed the graphic card has a HDMI plug) the sound will also be transmitted. So no further cable is necessary. If the graphic card has a DVI-plug and you are using a DVI > HDMI cable, you also have to use a separate lead to transmit the sound.

Why does the views “follow aircraft” and “cockpit mode” have no funktions in aerofly RC 7?
If you want to use the views “follow aricraft” or the “cockpit mode”, please select one of the 4D- sceneries. In photographic sceneries, it is not possible change your viewing point for “follow aircraft” mode, nor for the “cockpit mode”.
What are the system requirements of the Mac version of aerofly RC 7?
Please ensure that you Mac meets or exceeds the following system requirements:

  • Mac OS X Version 10.7 or newer
  • Intel based Mac
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 18 GB of free hard-disc space
  • Graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or faster with at least 512 MB
                         Intel HD 4000 or faster

I purchased aerofly RC 7 from the Mac App Store but the download doesn't finish, what can I do?
The delivery of the App to your computer is solely in the hands of Apple, so unfortunately there isn't much we can do. However if you cannot finish the download you have the right to cancel your purchase and receive a refund.
Some customers however were able to fix this problem by doing the following:
  • Create a new temporary Mac OS X user account
  • Log into this new account and start the App Store application
  • Try to continue downloading the App using your existing iTunes account
  • Once the download is finished, log out again and log back in again with your usual user account
  • You may then delete your user account again

Can I use my Mac Book Air for aerofly RC 7?
No, aerofly RC 7 does not work on the Mac Book Air.

aerofly RC 7 runs extremly slow after changing the graphic settings, what can I do?
The graphic quality settings have a huge impact on the performance of aerofly RC 7. If you are using a graphic card with 512 MB or less do not set the Texture qualities higher than Medium. If aerofly RC 7 is impossible to use after changing the settings, you may have to reset the default settings. Have a look at the next question on how to do this.
Display of smoke also has a huge impact on the performance. If aerofly RC 7 runs slow you might want to consider turning off display of smoke in the graphics settings.

How do I reset the settings of aerofly RC 7?
All config files of aerofly RC 7 are stored in a special folder inside your users Library folder. By default the Library folder of Max OS X is hidden. To open the Finder with a visible Library folder, press and hold the ALT Key, choose the "Go To" menu and then select "Library". A Finder window with the Library folder will then be opened.
Next click yourself to the aerofly RC 7 user folder which is located here

    ~/Library/Containers/com.aerofly.aerofly-rc-7/Data/Library/Application Support/aerofly RC 7/

In this folder simply remove all files inside the config folder.

How do I locate the log file tm.log of aerofly RC 7?
First locate the aerofly RC 7 user folder, this is described in the previous question. The file tm.log is located right inside this folder.
aerofly RC 7 crashes right after program start, what can I do?
First ensure your PC really meets the minimum system requirements.

Most crashes are due to older graphic card drivers. It is strongly recommended that you update your 3D graphic card driver to the latest version before running aerofly FS. Most computers have 3D drivers installed, but aerofly FS requires up to date drivers to work properly. Please don't use the Windows Update function to search for a current driver, instead visit the 3D graphic card manufacturer for the latest version.

aerofly RC 7 does not run smooth and my frame rate is below 30 FPS, what can I do?
First ensure your PC really meets the minimum system requirements.

If your 3D card meets our requirements carefully revise your graphic settings in aerofly RC 7. Setting the quality in aerofly RC 7 too high has a big impact on the performance. Even when using a 3D card with 1 GB of Ram it is not recommended to set all settings to High or Ultra, instead choose to use less texture quality or terrain texture quality.
